Nandamuri Balakrishna, born on 10 June 1960 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, is a celebrated Indian actor, film producer, and politician. Popularly known as Balayya or NBK, he is the sixth son of legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. T. Rama Rao. Balakrishna made his film debut as a child artist in Tatamma Kala (1974) and went on to establish himself as a leading star in Telugu cinema with films like Mangamma Gari Manavadu (1984), Muddula Mavayya (1989), and Simha (2010). His portrayal of mythological and historical characters has earned him immense respect and a loyal fan base.
Apart from his film career, Balakrishna entered politics in 2014 and has been serving as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Hindupur constituency, representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In recognition of his contribution to cinema and society, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2025. With over 100 films to his credit, Balakrishna continues to be a towering figure in both cinema and politics.
