She began her career as a child artist in the film Suraj (1966) and gained early recognition with Do Kaliyaan (1968). Transitioning into lead roles in the 1970s, she became one of the most prominent actresses of her era, starring in films like Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Khel Khel Mein (1975), Kabhi Kabhie (1976), and Amar Akbar Anthony (1977).
