Nina Oyama began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 17 and quickly gained recognition as a finalist in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Class Clowns competition in 2012. She studied communications and theatre media at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst, which helped shape her career in writing and performance. Her early work included writing for You’re Skitting Me and YOLO: Crystal Fantasy on Adult Swim.
She rose to fame with her role as Courtney in Utopia and later starred in Deadloch. Oyama has also co-created the AACTA Award-winning SBS series Latecomers and contributed to Koala Man on Disney+, which won her an AWGIE Award for Adult Animation. Today, she is recognized as one of Australia’s most versatile young talents, balancing comedy, acting, and directing.
