Pruthvi Ambaar is an Indian actor, former radio jockey, television personality and dancer who works predominantly in Kannada and Tulu cinema. He was born on August 17, 1988, in Udupi, Karnataka, and grew up in a Tulu-speaking family. Before entering the film industry, he began his professional career as a radio presenter in Mangaluru and became popularly known as RJ Nagaraj. He later appeared in television serials and short films, which helped him gain experience in acting and entertainment. His television credits include shows such as Radha Kalyana, Love Lavike and Sagara Sangama.
Ambaar made his feature-film acting debut with the Tulu movie Barke in 2014 and subsequently gained recognition through Pilibail Yamunakka, which became a successful film in the Tulu industry. His Kannada career received a major boost with Dia (2020), in which he played Adi, a character that earned him widespread appreciation. The performance also brought him the SIIMA Award for Best Male Debut – Kannada. He has subsequently worked across Kannada, Tulu, Hindi, Marathi and Tamil cinema. His filmography includes Rajaru, DK Bose, Sugarless, Bairagee, Dooradarshana, Juni, Matsyagandha and Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan. He has also expressed an interest in filmmaking and has moved toward directing, with his directorial debut planned in his mother tongue, Tulu.
