Rajendra Prasad, born Gadde Babu Rajendra Prasad on 19 July 1956 in Nimmakuru, Andhra Pradesh, is a veteran Indian actor known for his extensive work in Telugu cinema. He made his debut in Sneham (1977) and gained recognition with Manchu Pallaki (1982). By the mid-1980s, he established himself as a leading comedy actor with films like Rendu Rellu Aaru (1986), Ladies Tailor (1986), and Aha Naa Pellanta! (1987). His unique comic timing and relatable performances earned him the title “King of Comedy” in Telugu cinema.
Over his career spanning nearly five decades, Rajendra Prasad has acted in more than 200 films, showcasing versatility in comedy, drama, and character roles. He won the Nandi Award for Best Actor for Erra Mandaram (1991) and Aa Naluguru (2004), proving his ability to handle serious roles with equal brilliance. He has also received an honorary doctorate from Andhra University and was honored with the Padma Shri in 2026 for his contribution to Indian cinema.
