Rakesh Roshan was born into a family deeply rooted in the Indian film industry. His father, Roshan Lal Nagrath, was a renowned music director, and his brother Rajesh Roshan became a successful composer. Rakesh began his career as an actor in the late 1960s and appeared in several films through the 1970s and 1980s, often playing supporting or lead roles in family dramas and action films.
In the 1980s, he shifted focus to direction and production, founding FilmKraft Productions. His directorial debut Khudgarz (1987) was a success, and he went on to direct hits like Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), Karan Arjun (1995), and Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), which launched his son Hrithik Roshan’s career. He later created the Krrish superhero franchise, cementing his legacy as one of Bollywood’s most successful filmmakers.
