Saif Ali Khan, born Sajid Ali Khan Pataudi on 16 August 1970 in New Delhi, is an acclaimed Indian actor and film producer. He is the son of legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and celebrated actress Sharmila Tagore, belonging to the royal Pataudi family. Educated at Lawrence School, Sanawar, and later at Winchester College in the United Kingdom, Saif made his acting debut in Parampara (1993). Though his early films met with mixed success, he gained recognition with hits like Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994) and Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999). Known for his charming screen presence, he carved a niche as one of Bollywood’s most versatile actors.
His career took a major turn with Dil Chahta Hai (2001), which established him as a modern, urban actor. Saif went on to deliver acclaimed performances in Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Hum Tum (2004)—winning the National Film Award for Best Actor—and Omkara (2006), where his portrayal of Langda Tyagi was widely praised. In 2010, he was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award. Beyond films, Saif has produced movies like Love Aaj Kal (2009) and starred in successful OTT projects such as Sacred Games (2018). Married first to actress Amrita Singh (1991–2004), he later married Kareena Kapoor in 2012, with whom he has two sons. Today, Saif Ali Khan continues to balance mainstream cinema with experimental roles, making him one of Bollywood’s most enduring and evolving stars.
