Biography

Sharmilee, born Maria Margaret Sharmilee, began her career in the early 2000s and quickly made her mark in South Indian cinema. She debuted in Tamil films with Aasai Aasaiyai (2003) opposite Jiiva, and later rechristened herself as Meenakshi in Malayalam films after playing the titular role in Kakkakarumban (2004). Her performances earned her recognition, including the Kerala Film Critics Association’s Debutante Artist Award in 2005.

Despite a promising start, Sharmilee’s acting career was relatively short-lived, spanning just a few years. She later pursued modeling and television hosting, including anchoring the popular phone-in program Kasumele on Jaya TV. With strong academic credentials in mathematics and computer applications, she balanced her artistic pursuits with education, eventually stepping away from films to focus on other endeavors.
