Sharmin Segal was born in 1995 in Mumbai, Maharashtra to film editor Bela Bhansali Segal (sister of Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and Deepak Segal, content head of Applause Entertainment. She studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, Los Angeles. Before stepping into acting, she worked as an assistant director on Bhansali’s films, including Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.
Her acting debut came with Malaal (2019), produced by Bhansali, for which she received a Filmfare nomination for Best Female Debut. She later starred in Atithi Bhooto Bhava (2022) and gained wider recognition with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024). In November 2023, she married businessman Aman Mehta, and the couple welcomed their first child in 2024.
