Biography

Shruti Haasan was born on 1986-01-28 in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India, to legendary actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika Thakur. She grew up in a film-oriented family, with her younger sister Akshara Haasan also pursuing acting. Shruti made her first on-screen appearance as a child artist in her father’s film Hey Ram (2000). She later debuted as a lead actress in Bollywood with Luck (2009), followed by successful entries into Telugu cinema with Anaganaga O Dheerudu (2011) and Tamil cinema with 7aum Arivu (2011).

Her career breakthrough came with 3 (2012), and she quickly rose to prominence with hits like Gabbar Singh (2012), Race Gurram (2014), Vedalam (2015), and Srimanthudu (2015). Beyond acting, Shruti is a trained musician, having studied at the Musicians Institute in California, and she continues to perform with her own band. She is recognized as one of the highest-paid actresses in South Indian cinema and has earned multiple awards, including Filmfare and SIIMA honors.
