Siddique Mamathu, popularly known simply as Siddique, is one of the most respected character actors in Malayalam cinema. Born on October 1, 1962, in Kochi, Kerala, he developed an interest in performance during his younger years. He began his artistic journey through mimicry and theatre, eventually finding his way into the Malayalam film industry.
Before becoming an actor, Siddique completed a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Government Polytechnic College, Kalamassery. He worked with the Kerala State Electricity Board and later spent several years working in Saudi Arabia before returning to Kerala to pursue his passion for cinema.
Siddique made his film debut with Aa Neram Alpa Dooram in 1985. His breakthrough came with the hugely popular comedy In Harihar Nagar in 1990, after which he became known for his comic performances. Over the years, he successfully transitioned into serious character parts, antagonistic roles and mature supporting characters.
His notable films include Godfather, Nandanam, Lelam, Ustad Hotel, Drishyam, Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan and Odiyan. He has also worked in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films.
