She rose to fame after winning Femina Miss India World Tourism 2005 and later the Miss World Tourism 2005 title, becoming the first Indian to achieve this honor. A graduate of Gargi College, New Delhi, she initially pursued modeling before entering films. Her Bollywood debut came with Jannat (2008), where she starred opposite Emraan Hashmi, earning critical acclaim and a Filmfare nomination for Best Female Debut. The same year, she made her Telugu debut with Rainbow.
