Srijita Ghosh was born and raised in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She pursued her academic journey in economics with a focus on environmental sustainability and resource management. She completed her B.Sc. in Economics (Honours) from Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College in 2014, followed by an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta in 2016. In 2017, she qualified the UGC-NET Examination in Economics, which paved the way for her teaching career. She further earned her M.Phil. in Economics in 2019, submitting a dissertation on watershed management in dryland areas of West Bengal. In 2025, she completed her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, focusing on sustainable forest and watershed management in developing countries.
Her professional career began as a guest lecturer at Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College in 2018. She later joined St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, as Assistant Professor in Economics in 2019, where she continues to teach and conduct research. She has also served as Faculty Convener for multiple Economics Summits and coordinated UGC NET guidance courses. Her research interests include resource and environmental economics, energy economics, and climate policy challenges. She has published several papers in reputed journals, including studies on forestry, watershed management, and clean cooking fuel consumption.
