Sunil Pal grew up in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, in a modest family. He moved to Mumbai in the late 1990s to pursue a career in entertainment. Initially, he worked as a junior artist and mimicry performer, imitating Bollywood actors to earn a living. His breakthrough came when he participated in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (2005), where his unique style of observational humor and mimicry won him the title. This victory made him a household name and opened doors to films and television.
He went on to act in several Bollywood films, including Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Bhagam Bhag (2006), and Apna Sapna Money Money (2006). In 2011, he directed and starred in Bhavnao Ko Samjho, which entered the Limca Book of Records for featuring 51 stand-up comedians in a single film. Sunil Pal is known for his clean comedy, often drawing humor from everyday life, Bollywood, and social issues.
Over the years, he has performed across India and abroad, entertaining audiences with his mimicry of stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Nana Patekar. Despite controversies, including his outspoken views on fellow comedians, Pal remains a respected figure in Indian comedy. He continues to perform live shows, appear in films, and mentor upcoming comedians.
