Biography

Tanvi Kiran Azmi, daughter of veteran actress Usha Kiran and Dr. Manohar Kher, was born on November 9, 1963, in Bombay (now Mumbai). She began her career in television with Jeevanrekha and quickly transitioned into films, earning recognition for her nuanced portrayals of strong, complex women. Over the years, she has acted in both Hindi and Marathi films, balancing mainstream cinema with meaningful roles.

Her breakthrough came with Bajirao Mastani (2015), where she played Radha Maa, earning critical acclaim and awards. She later appeared in Thappad (2020), Tribhanga (2021), and Do Patti (2024). Known for her versatility, she continues to be a respected figure in Indian cinema. Married to cinematographer Baba Azmi, she is the daughter-in-law of poet Kaifi Azmi and Shaukat Azmi, and sister-in-law of actress Shabana Azmi.
