Teejay Arunasalam grew up in Northolt, London, in a Sri Lankan Tamil immigrant household that preserved strong cultural ties to Tamil traditions. His early interest in music began with Carnatic classes and GCSE studies in music technology, which led him to experiment with Tamil R&B and independent music in the early 2010s. His singles like Muttu Muttu gained viral success, establishing him as a prominent figure in the Tamil diaspora music scene.
Transitioning into acting, Teejay made his Tamil cinema debut in Asuran (2019), directed by Vetrimaaran, where he played Dhanush’s elder son Velmurugan. His natural performance earned critical acclaim. He later appeared in Thatrom Thookrom (2020), Pathu Thala (2023), and anthology series Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa (2022). Expanding his career, he starred opposite Vijay in Thalapathy 69 (Jana Nayagan) and debuted in Malayalam cinema with Vilayath Buddha (2025). Alongside acting, he continues to produce music, blending Tamil identity with contemporary global sounds.
