Wamiqa Gabbi grew up in Chandigarh in a literary Punjabi family. Her father, Govardhan Gabbi, is a noted author and poet, while her mother, Raj Kumari, is an educationist. She pursued her education at DAV College, Chandigarh, and developed a passion for acting and dance early on. Her first appearance was in Jab We Met (2007), followed by her breakout role in Punjabi cinema with Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 (2013).
