Arjun Janya, born Lokesh Kumar on May 13, 1980, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, is a celebrated Indian music composer, singer, and music director primarily known for his work in the Kannada film industry. He began his musical journey as a keyboard player, contributing to over 30 films before stepping into composition. Initially assisting renowned composers like V. Manohar and K. Kalyan, Arjun made his debut as an independent music director with Autograph Please (2006).

Despite early struggles, his breakthrough came with Birugaali (2009), followed by Sanchari (2010), which earned him recognition for his energetic and emotionally resonant scores. His major turning point arrived with Kempe Gowda (2011), a remake of the Tamil hit Singam, which catapulted him into mainstream success. Following an astrologer’s advice, he changed his name to Arjun Janya, a move that coincided with his rising fame.

Arjun’s signature style blends traditional melodies with contemporary beats, making him a favorite among audiences and filmmakers alike. His notable works include Romeo, Bhajarangi, Hebbuli, Chowka, Pataki, and Vajrakaya. He has also sung playback for several films, showcasing his versatility.

His accolades include the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director (Alemaari, 2012), SIIMA Award for Romeo, and Filmfare Award for Bhajarangi. He also served as a judge on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs on Zee Kannada, mentoring young talent.

In his personal life, Arjun married Geeta in 2006, and the couple has a daughter named Rajita. Despite undergoing a cardiac procedure in 2020, he continues to compose for major Kannada films, solidifying his legacy as one of the industry’s most influential music directors
