Atharvaa Murali, born on May 7, 1989, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is a prominent actor in Tamil cinema. He hails from a distinguished film lineage—his father, Murali, was a celebrated actor, and his grandfather, S. Siddalingaiah, a renowned director.
Atharvaa completed his schooling at St. Michael's Academy and pursued engineering at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. His entry into films was facilitated by his father, who helped him land a lead role in Baana Kaathadi (2010). Atharvaa immersed himself in the role by living in the Royapuram slums and learning to fly kites, showcasing his dedication early on.
His breakthrough came with Paradesi (2013), directed by Bala, where he portrayed a villager enslaved in a tea plantation. The performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil and established him as a serious talent in the industry. He followed this with notable roles in Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, Eetti, Kanithan, Semma Botha Aagatha, and Imaikkaa Nodigal, displaying versatility across genres.
