Biography

Devadarshini Sukumaran, popularly known as Devadarshini, is a celebrated Indian actress renowned for her comedic timing and impactful supporting roles across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema. Born on January 1, 1975, in Chennai, she began her career as a television anchor before transitioning into acting—a move that would define her as one of the most recognizable character artists in South Indian entertainment.

Her breakthrough came with the cult TV series Marmadesam – Vidathu Karuppu, which not only showcased her acting prowess but also introduced her to her future husband, actor Chetan. The couple later appeared together in several projects, and their daughter, Niyati Kadambi, followed in her footsteps with a role in the film 96.

Devadarshini’s film debut was in Parthiban Kanavu (2003), which earned her the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian. She went on to deliver memorable performances in films like Kaakha Kaakha, Muni 2: Kanchana, 36 Vayadhinile, Eega, Enthiran, and Bigil. Known for her expressive face and impeccable comic timing, she has often played the quirky sister, nosy neighbor, or the lovable aunt—roles that she elevates with nuance and charm.

Beyond cinema, she has been a staple on Tamil television, appearing in serials like Athipookal and hosting shows such as Sunday Galatta and Genes. In recent years, she’s expanded into OTT platforms with roles in series like The Family Man and Aindham Vedham.
