Biography

Hariharan Anantha Subramani is an Indian singer, actor, and music artist. He was born on April 3, 1955 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India to classical musicians H. A. S. Mani and Alamelu Mani. Hariharan is known for his work in playback, bhajan, and ghazal, and has sung in over 15,000 songs in 10 languages including Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu. He is also considered a pioneer of Indian fusion music. 

Hariharan's discography includes many national favorites, such as Gulfam (1994), Shree Hanuman Chalisa, and Vennmegam. He has also performed in the group Colonial Cousins, which combines Western pop sounds like jazz and funk with traditional ragas. 

Hariharan has won several awards, including the Padma Shri in 2004 for Jogwa, the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for Border in 2010, and the Yesudas Award.
 
Hariharan has also acted in several films, including Vaaranam Aayiram (2008), Border (1997), and Enthiran (2010).
