Ilaiyaraaja (born R. Gnanathesikan, June 3, 1943) is an Indian musician, composer, arranger, conductor, orchestrator, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist and singer, popular for his works in Indian cinema, prominently in Tamil films. laiyaraaja was married to Jeeva and the couple has three children—Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Bhavatharini—all of them are film composers and singers. His wife Jeeva died on 31 October 2011. In conclusion, Maestro Ilayaraja's status as a true living legend and real genius is undisputed. He is the younger brother of music director Karthik Raja and playback singer-music director Bhavatharini. Master Dhanraj is a famous and renowned music teacher in Madras (now Chennai). He has made musical research on the epic Silappatikaram. Orchestration for the grand Tamil movie Chandralekha was done by Dhanraj. He is well known as the guru of greats such as Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Mozart of Madras A. R. Known for his excellent command over Carnatic music, it is said that Raja invented Panchamukhi raga.
