Biography
Jayashree Raj, a talented actress, producer, and director, was born in Gonikoppa, Coorg, Karnataka. She pursued her education at Nehru Smaraka Vidya Kendra, Bengaluru, and later graduated from Karnataka University. During her college years at Cauvery College, she actively participated in dance, drama, music, and modeling, showcasing her artistic flair. She was also an excellent badminton player, winning the Coorg district championship in 2000.
Jayashree made her television debut in 1998 with the Kannada mega-serial Mayamriga, directed by T.N. Seetharam, which made her a household name. She went on to act in over 40 serials, including Janani, Samagama, Sahana, and Manvantara, further cementing her popularity. Apart from acting, she has hosted several television programs, proving her versatility in the entertainment industry.
Her film career began with Bhoothayanna Makkalu, followed by notable movies like Ninagagi, Dumbee, and Smile. She later appeared in films such as Sparsha Cool, Ganesha, and Honganasu, expanding her presence in Kannada cinema.
In April 2002, Jayashree married Ganesh Prasad, an Atlanta-based engineer working with Axim Technologies, choosing to step away from acting for marital bliss. However, she later returned to the industry and participated in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 6, which helped her reconnect with her fanbase.
With her multi-genre expertise and contributions to Kannada and Telugu cinema, Jayashree Raj remains a respected figure in the industry.
