Biography
Jim Sarbh is an Indian actor and theatre director, known for his unconventional roles and intense performances in Bollywood and independent cinema. Born on August 27, 1987, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, he comes from a Parsi Zoroastrian family. His father was a master mariner and the Regional Director of P&O Ports South and Middle East Asia, while his mother was a physiotherapist.
Sarbh pursued his undergraduate degree in Psychology at Emory University, USA, before transitioning into theatre. He worked with Alliance Theatre in Atlanta and won the Major Supporting Role Metropolitan Atlanta Theatre Award for his performance in Ice Glen. After returning to Mumbai in 2012, he became a prominent figure in Indian theatre, starring in plays like Death of a Salesman, The Merchant of Venice, and Living Room.
His film debut came in Neerja (2016), where he played the antagonist Khalil, earning critical acclaim. He later gained recognition for his roles in Padmaavat (2018), Sanju (2018), Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), and Rocket Boys (2022), where he portrayed Dr. Homi Bhabha. His performance in Rocket Boys earned him a Best Actor nomination at the 51st International Emmy Awards. With his fearless approach to acting, Sarbh continues to be a standout performer in Indian cinema.
