Konkona Sen Sharma, a prominent figure in art-house cinema, is an accomplished Indian actress recognized for her work in both Hindi and Bengali films. Born in Kolkata to Mukul Sharma and Aparna Sen, who is an actress and film director, Konkona comes from a family deeply rooted in the film industry. Her maternal grandfather, Chidananda Dasgupta, was a renowned film analyst and one of the founders of the Calcutta Film Society. Konkona began her journey in the film industry as a child artist in the movie "Indira," alongside her mother. She completed her education at Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata and graduated in English from St. Stephen's College in Delhi. In 2010, Konkona married actor Ranvir Shorey after a three-year courtship, and they welcomed their first child, Haroon, in 2011. However, the couple announced their separation five years later without disclosing the reasons for their decision. Her breakthrough in the film industry came with the Bengali film "Ek Je Achhe Kanya," followed by critically acclaimed performances in Rituparno Ghosh's "Titli" and Aparna Sen's "Mr. and Mrs. Iyer." The latter earned her a National Film Award for Best Actress, and her performance was later recognized as one of the "Top 80 Iconic Performances" by Filmfare. Konkona made her Bollywood debut with Madhur Bhandarkar's "Page 3" in 2005, a role that earned her praise for her portrayal of a journalist. She continued to deliver impactful performances in films such as "15 Park Avenue," "Omkara" (for which she received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress), "Luck By Chance," and "Wake Up Sid." In 2017, Konkona made her directorial debut with the drama "A Death in the Gunj," in which she also acted. She was also part of the cast in the women-centric drama "Lipstick Under My Burkha" the same year. Her diverse filmography includes projects like "Goynar Baksho," "Talvar," "Akira," "Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi," and "Ajeeb Dastaans."
