Born in Kolkata to Mukul Sharma and Aparna Sen, who is an actress and film director, Konkona comes from a family deeply rooted in the film industry. Her maternal grandfather, Chidananda Dasgupta, was a renowned film analyst and one of the founders of the Calcutta Film Society. Konkona began her journey in the film industry as a child artist in the movie "Indira," alongside her mother. She completed her education at Modern High School for Girls in Kolkata and graduated in English from St. Stephen's College in Delhi. In 2010, Konkona married actor Ranvir Shorey after a three-year courtship, and they welcomed their first child, Haroon, in 2011. However, the couple announced their separation five years later without disclosing the reasons for their decision. Her breakthrough in the film industry came with the Bengali film "Ek Je Achhe Kanya," followed by critically acclaimed performances in Rituparno Ghosh's "Titli" and Aparna Sen's "Mr. and Mrs. Iyer."
