Biography
KPY Bala, born Balan Aakash on 30 June 1995 in Karaikal, Puducherry, is an Indian comedian, television personality, and actor who rose to fame through Tamil reality shows and his infectious sense of humor. Fondly nicknamed “Vettukili Bala,” he grew up with a passion for entertaining others and moved to Chennai with the support of his mentor Amuthavaanan to pursue opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Bala’s early days were challenging, as he sought roles in Vijay TV programs like Adhu Ithu Edhu. His big break came in 2017 when he participated in Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru? Season 6, a popular stand-up comedy competition on Star Vijay. Initially eliminated, he was brought back into the show after host Priyanka Deshpande advocated for him. Bala went on to win the season, receiving the title from comedy superstar Santhanam, which catapulted him into the limelight.
He became a household name as a “Comali” in the hit cooking-comedy reality show Cooku with Comali, where his quick wit, playful banter, and chemistry with contestants made him a fan favorite. Bala has also appeared in Tamil films such as Junga, Thumbaa, Cocktail, and Naai Sekar Returns.
Beyond entertainment, Bala is admired for his philanthropy. He has donated multiple ambulances, gifted auto-rickshaws to help people earn a livelihood, and supported underprivileged children’s education. His generosity and down-to-earth nature have earned him immense respect among fans and peers.
