Manjot Singh
Biography
Manjot Singh is an Indian actor best known for his comic timing and relatable performances in Bollywood films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and the Fukrey series.
Born on 7 July 1992 in New Delhi, Manjot Singh grew up in a Punjabi Sikh family. He studied at Hillwoods Academy and later pursued graduation from Delhi University. His entry into films was unconventional—he had never acted before auditioning for Dibakar Banerjee’s Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008), where he played the younger version of Abhay Deol’s character. His natural performance won him the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor, marking a remarkable debut for someone with no prior acting experience.
Following his breakthrough, Singh built a career in both Bollywood and Punjabi cinema. He appeared in films such as Student of the Year (2012), Fukrey (2013), Fukrey Returns (2017), and Dream Girl 2 (2023), becoming a familiar face in youth-centric comedies. His portrayal of Lali in the Fukrey franchise earned him widespread recognition for blending humor with sincerity. Beyond films, Singh has also worked in Punjabi movies like Pure Punjabi (2012). Over the years, he has carved a niche as one of the few Sikh actors consistently representing his community in mainstream cinema, while striving to break stereotypes and bring authenticity to his roles.
