Biography
Paresh Rawal is a renowned Indian actor, comedian, producer, and politician, celebrated for his versatile performances across Hindi and regional cinema. Born on May 30, 1955, in Mumbai, he pursued a Commerce degree at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics before stepping into the world of acting.
Rawal made his Bollywood debut with Holi (1984) but gained recognition with Naam (1986). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he became one of Bollywood’s most sought-after villains, delivering powerful performances in films like Kabzaa (1988), Baazi (1995), and Aitraaz (2004). However, his comic timing and versatility shone through in films like Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Hera Pheri (2000), and Welcome (2007), making him a fan favorite.
Beyond cinema, Rawal has had a successful political career, serving as a Member of Parliament from Ahmedabad East between 2014 and 2019. He was also appointed Chairperson of the National School of Drama in 2020. His contributions to Indian cinema earned him the Padma Shri in 2014, solidifying his legacy as one of Bollywood’s most respected actors.
