Biography

Ramu Rathod is a celebrated Telugu folk singer and performer from Gopalpur Tanda, a village in Bhoothpur Mandal, Mahabubnagar district, Telangana. Born on June 12, 1999, into a Banjara–Lambadi tribal family, Ramu is the youngest of five siblings. His father, Kishan Nayak, a farmer with a deep love for music, played a pivotal role in nurturing Ramu’s passion by introducing him to cassette songs and encouraging his early performances.

From a young age, Ramu was drawn to music and dance, often captivating audiences at school events and local functions. Inspired by revolutionary folk artists like Gorati Venkanna and the Gaddar movement, he began composing and performing songs that reflected social issues and cultural pride. His early exposure to Telangana’s vibrant folk traditions laid the foundation for his artistic journey.

Despite limited resources and formal training, Ramu’s dedication led him to perform at village festivals and cultural programs, gradually building a loyal fan base. His breakthrough came with the viral folk song “Ranu Bombayi Ki Ranu,” which amassed over 516 million views online, catapulting him into digital stardom. Known for blending traditional rhythms with modern beats, Ramu’s music resonates with both rural and urban audiences.

In 2025, Ramu Rathod entered Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9, further expanding his reach and showcasing his personality to a wider audience. He remains unmarried and continues to focus on his music career, often crediting his family and community for their unwavering support.
