R. Sarathkumar, born on July 14, 1954, in New Delhi, is a celebrated Indian actor, politician, journalist, and former bodybuilder. Predominantly working in Tamil cinema, he has also made significant contributions to Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films. With over 150 films to his credit, Sarathkumar is known for his versatility, earning titles like "Supreme Star" and "Super Hero" in Tamil cinema.
He began his acting career in 1986 with the Telugu film Samajamlo Sthree and transitioned to Tamil cinema with Kan Simittum Neram in 1988. Initially playing negative and supporting roles, he later established himself as a leading actor with hits like Nattamai, Suryavamsam, and Natpukkaga. His performances have earned him multiple accolades, including Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South.
Beyond cinema, Sarathkumar is an influential politician. He founded the All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK) party in 2007 and served as a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He was also the president of the South Indian Artistes' Association from 2006 to 2015.
