Biography

Sivaji Raja is a veteran Telugu actor and comedian, widely admired for his versatility and long-standing contribution to cinema and television.

Born on 26 February 1962 in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, Sivaji Raja grew up in a modest family. His father, G. Rama Raju, worked as an attender at DNR College, while his mother, G. Chandravathi, was a homemaker. After completing his polytechnic education in Hyderabad, he pursued his passion for acting by enrolling in a film institute. His family later moved to Chennai, where he began his journey in the Telugu film industry.

Sivaji Raja made his film debut in the late 1970s with Chaaya (1979), but it was in the 1980s and 1990s that he rose to prominence. He appeared in popular films such as Bobbili Raja (1990), Sisindri (1995), Ugadi (1997), Pelli Peetalu (1998), Samudram (1999), Maayajaalam (2006), Devaraya (2012), Chammak Challo (2013), and Nakshatram (2017). His ability to seamlessly blend comedy with character roles made him a household name.

Apart from films, Sivaji Raja became immensely popular through television serials, especially the cult comedy series Amrutham, along with Alasyam Amrutham Visham, Mr. Romeo, Pandu Mirapakai, Papam Padmanabham, and Moguds Pellams. His television work further cemented his reputation as a versatile entertainer.

Over his career, Sivaji Raja has acted in more than 400 films and numerous TV serials, earning him immense respect in the industry. He has won four Nandi Awards and a Santosham Film Award, recognizing his excellence in performance.

On the personal front, Sivaji Raja is married to G. Aruna, and the couple has two children, Meghana and Vijay. Despite health challenges in recent years, he continues to be celebrated as one of Tollywood’s most enduring comedians and character actors.
