Biography

Subhalekha Sudhakar, born Suravajhala Sudhakar on 19 November 1960 in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, is a veteran Indian actor celebrated for his work in Telugu and Tamil cinema.

Sudhakar’s entry into films came in 1982 with K. Viswanath’s Subhalekha, a movie that not only earned him critical acclaim but also gave him his stage name “Subhalekha.” His portrayal of Murali in the film showcased his natural acting talent and established him as a promising newcomer. Over the next decades, he became known for his versatility, appearing in a wide range of roles across genres—from comedy and drama to intense character-driven performances.

He went on to star in several notable films such as **Rendu Jella Sita (1983), Sitaara (1984), Aha Naa Pellanta! (1987), Siva (1989), Nirnayam (1992), Chitram Bhalare Vichitram (1991), Aa Naluguru (2004), Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava (2018), and Masooda (2022). His ability to seamlessly shift between comedic timing and emotional depth made him a respected figure in the industry.

Beyond films, Subhalekha Sudhakar has also worked extensively in television serials, becoming a familiar face in Telugu households. His voice acting skills further expanded his repertoire, adding another dimension to his career.

On the personal front, Sudhakar married S. P. Sailaja, a playback singer and sister of the legendary musician S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, in 1989. The couple has one child. This connection placed him within one of the most illustrious families in South Indian music and cinema.
