Biography
Sumanth Ashwin is a Telugu film actor known for his charming screen presence and steady rise in the industry. Born on June 30, 1988, in Hyderabad, he is the son of renowned producer-director M. S. Raju. Growing up in a cinematic environment, Sumanth was naturally drawn to films, though he initially worked behind the scenes as a co-producer on Pournami (2006) before stepping into the limelight.
He made his acting debut in 2012 with Tuneega Tuneega, directed by his father. Although the film didn’t fare well at the box office, it earned him the CineMAA Award for Best Male Debut. His breakthrough came with Anthaka Mundu Aa Tarvatha (2013), directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti, which was both a critical and commercial success.
Sumanth followed this with a string of youthful entertainers like Lovers, Chakkiligintha, Kerintha, and Columbus, carving a niche for himself in romantic and coming-of-age roles. His 2018 film Happy Wedding further showcased his ability to portray emotionally layered characters. In 2021, he starred in Idhe Maa Katha, a road-trip drama, and later appeared in 7 Days 6 Nights (2022), which he also co-produced.
