Biography
Vinay Gowda is a prominent Indian actor known for his impactful roles in Kannada television and cinema. Born on March 7, 1979, in Bangalore, Karnataka, he grew up in a middle-class family with strong ties to the film industry—his father and siblings also worked in cinema. After completing his education at St. Ann’s High School and KLE Society’s S Nijalingappa College, Vinay moved to Mumbai at age 21 following a disagreement with his father. There, he worked as a hotel manager before transitioning into acting.
Vinay made his television debut with Chitte Hejje in 2013 and gained widespread recognition for portraying Lord Shiva in mythological serials like Hara Hara Mahadeva and Jai Hanuman. His commanding screen presence and spiritual depth earned him the nickname “Mahadeva.” He later appeared in popular TV shows such as Bayasade Bali Bande (2019) and Marali Manasagide (2021), and produced Bayasade Bali Bande in 2019.
His film career includes roles in Rocket (2015), ATM: Attempt to Murder (2018), Shivaji Surathkal (2020), Pogaru (2021), and Khaimara (2023). In 2023, he joined Bigg Boss Kannada Season 10, earning a reported weekly salary of ?2.25 lakh and further expanding his fan base.
Vinay is married to Akshatha Gowda, a casting director and actress. The couple, childhood friends turned lovers, married in 2008 after a decade-long relationship. They have a son, Rushabh Gowda, a talented skater.
