Biography
Vishnu Unnikrishnan, born on March 11, 1987, in Ernakulam, Kerala, is a versatile Indian actor and screenwriter known for his work in the Malayalam film industry. He began his acting career as a child artist in Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum (2003) and gradually transitioned into more prominent roles, earning a reputation for his grounded performances and relatable characters.
Vishnu’s breakthrough came not just as an actor but also as a screenwriter, when he co-wrote the 2015 hit Amar Akbar Anthony with Bibin George. The duo followed it up with Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan (2016), where Vishnu also played the lead role of Krishnan Nair, a struggling actor with big dreams. The film was both a critical and commercial success, earning him the Asianet Film Award for Best Script and the Vanitha Film Award for Best Debut (Male).
Despite facing a serious hand injury during the filming of Street Lights, Vishnu made a strong comeback with Shikkari Shambhu and continued to appear in films like Oru Pazhaya Bomb Kadha, Children’s Park, Sabhash Chandra Bose, and Vedikkettu (2023), which he also co-directed.
Known for his collaborations with director Nadirshah and writer Bibin George, Vishnu has carved a niche for himself as a storyteller who blends humor, emotion, and social commentary. His recent projects include Thaanara and Idiyan Chandhu, and he continues to explore new creative avenues as a producer and director.
With his humble beginnings, creative versatility, and deep connection to Kerala’s cultural ethos, Vishnu Unnikrishnan remains a beloved figure in Malayalam cinema, admired for both his talent and resilience.
