Movie buffs in Hyderabad have reason to celebrate. In a significant boost to the city’s premium cinema culture, IMAX Corporation has entered into an agreement with Asian Cinemas to launch three state-of-the-art IMAX with Laser screens across India — two of which are confirmed for Hyderabad.
The first of these cutting-edge screens will rise at the upcoming AMB Classic Cinemas at RTC Junction (RTC X Roads). Targeted to open its doors before the end of 2026, this will mark Hyderabad’s latest IMAX destination, featuring IMAX’s next-generation laser projection technology for sharper, brighter, and more immersive visuals.
But the excitement doesn’t end there. As part of the same agreement, Asian Cinemas will roll out two additional IMAX with Laser screens in 2028. While one will be located elsewhere in India, the second is slated once again for Hyderabad — this time, reportedly in the developing corridor of Hakimpet. If confirmed, Hakimpet will become the city’s second IMAX venue under the Asian brand, further cementing Hyderabad’s status as a premiere exhibition market in South Asia.
“We are thrilled to partner with Asian Cinemas to bring IMAX’s most advanced laser experience to more guests across India,” an IMAX spokesperson said. “Hyderabad continues to be a key growth market for us.”
With these additions, Hyderabad will boast two new IMAX screens within two years, offering film enthusiasts unparalleled access to Hollywood and Tollywood blockbusters in crystal-clear, larger-than-life format. The first screen at AMB Classic RTC X Roads is already generating significant buzz, setting the stage for a cinematic leap forward in the city.
