Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has become the centre of a growing controversy after another YouTuber claimed that he received a legal notice from the film’s team over his review. The development comes shortly after a Bengaluru court issued an interim injunction concerning allegedly false, malicious or defamatory content related to the movie.
Tamil YouTuber Prashanth Rangaswamy, known on X as @itisprashanth, claimed that he had received a legal notice in connection with his Toxic review. Sharing his reaction on social media, he criticised the move and questioned the approach taken by the film’s team. His post has since attracted considerable attention among moviegoers and social-media users.
More YouTubers Claim Legal Notices
Prashanth Rangaswamy is not the only content creator to make such a claim. YouTuber Suraj Kumar also shared a screenshot of a legal notice he said he received over his review of Toxic. According to reports, the notice was issued by Aiplex Software Private Limited on behalf of KVN-Monster Mind Creations LLP, identified as the producer and copyright owner of the film.
The reports have sparked a wider discussion about the distinction between legitimate film criticism and content that allegedly crosses into defamatory or misleading territory.
What Did The Court Order Say?
The controversy follows an ex-parte temporary injunction issued by a Bengaluru civil court on August 22. The order restricts the publication and circulation of allegedly false, malicious, defamatory or derogatory material concerning Toxic. The injunction is reportedly in force until September 28.
Importantly, reports on the court order indicate that honest reviews and criticism are not automatically prohibited. The legal action is instead focused on material that the filmmakers allege is false, malicious or defamatory.
Yash’s Toxic Faces Mixed Reactions
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic released in theatres on August 26 and has generated mixed reactions from audiences and critics. While Yash’s performance and the film’s visual scale have attracted praise from some viewers, others have criticised aspects of its storytelling and execution.
The legal-notice controversy has now added another layer to the film’s post-release conversation. As more content creators discuss their experiences, attention is likely to remain focused on the ongoing court proceedings and the boundaries between film criticism and allegedly defamatory online content
