The Zombie Reddy franchise is getting a major upgrade with Kannada superstar Upendra joining Teja Sajja and Shanaya Kapoor in the upcoming sequel, officially titled Zombie Reddy 2 – Nxt Lvl. The announcement was made on Teja Sajja’s birthday on August 23, 2026, with the makers promising a bigger, darker and more ambitious zombie action-comedy.
Upendra Joins the Zombie Universe
Upendra has been announced in a prominent role in the sequel, adding significant star power to the project. His inclusion is expected to increase the film's appeal, particularly among Kannada and Telugu audiences.
Meanwhile, Teja Sajja returns to lead the franchise, continuing his association with the Zombie Reddy universe.
Shanaya Kapoor Makes Her South Debut
The film will also mark Shanaya Kapoor's South Indian cinema debut. The Bollywood actress will share the screen with Teja Sajja and Upendra in what is being planned as a much larger-scale sequel.
Her addition gives the project another pan-India dimension, particularly as the film is being planned for release across multiple languages.
Suparn S. Varma to Direct
Unlike the original, which was directed by Prasanth Varma, the sequel will be directed by Suparn S. Varma, known for projects including The Family Man Season 2, Rana Naidu and Haq.
Prasanth Varma remains closely involved as the creator and story writer. The screenplay is being developed by Hussain Dalal, Prasanth Varma and Suparn S. Varma, with additional writing credits reported for Abbas Dalal.
Bigger Zombie World
The makers are promising to take the concept to the “Nxt Lvl”, with the new film described as a high-octane zombie action-comedy packed with adventure and action.
The glimpse reportedly shows Teja Sajja surrounded by thousands of zombies, suggesting that the sequel will significantly expand the scale of the original film.
The original Zombie Reddy was released in 2021 and became notable for bringing a zombie-based concept into Telugu mainstream cinema, with Teja Sajja playing the lead.
Seven-Language Release Planned
Zombie Reddy 2 – Nxt Lvl is being mounted as a pan-India and international project. The film is planned for release in seven languages: Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Nepali and Japanese.
The film is produced by T.G. Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under the People Media Factory banner. Music is being composed by Gowra Hari, who has previously worked on Hanu-Man and Mirai.
When Will Zombie Reddy 2 Release?
The makers are targeting a 2027 theatrical release, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
With Teja Sajja returning, Upendra joining the cast and Shanaya Kapoor making her South debut, Zombie Reddy 2 – Nxt Lvl is shaping up to be a considerably bigger sequel.
