Punjabi social media influencer Kamal Kaur was found dead inside a parked car near Adesh Medical University in Bathinda on Wednesday night. The shocking discovery was made after locals noticed a foul smell emanating from the vehicle and alerted the authorities. Upon inspection, police found Kaur’s body in the back seat of the car, which was later confirmed to be registered in Ludhiana. Preliminary investigations suggest that she was murdered elsewhere and her body was dumped at the location.
Kamal Kaur, known for her viral Instagram reels, had a strong social media presence with over 383,000 followers. She was often at the center of controversy due to her bold content, which had reportedly led to threats from individuals linked to Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla in 2024. Despite the warnings, she continued posting, and her last Instagram update was made just three days before her death. Police revealed that Kaur had left her home in Ludhiana on June 9, telling her mother she was traveling to Bathinda for a promotional event.
Authorities suspect foul play, as the car in which her body was found had fake registration plates. CCTV footage showed a turbaned man driving the vehicle before leaving on foot. Investigators believe the murder took place elsewhere, and forensic teams are analyzing mobile tower data and surveillance footage to identify suspects. Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently difficult to determine the presence of injury marks. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Kaur’s tragic death has sent shockwaves through Punjab’s influencer community and her extensive fan base. Many of her followers are mourning the mysterious loss, while police continue their investigation. Senior officials have confirmed that leads have emerged, and a breakthrough in the case is expected soon. The authorities are working to trace the movement of the car and establish whether it was parked at the location for an extended period.
