Here Is the reason why Tamil super star Suriya recently opened up about his family's decision to relocate to Mumbai after the pandemic, a move that has significantly altered their lifestyle. Suriya and his wife, actress Jyotika, now primarily reside in Mumbai with their children, Diya and Dev, who are enrolled in local schools. The shift has provided a balance between Jyotika's career revival and a more grounded lifestyle for their children, keeping them away from the constant spotlight.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Suriya shared insights into Jyotika's move, saying, "Jyotika shifted to Chennai when she was 18 or 19 and lived there for 27 years. She was with me, my family, and she gave up her career, friends, and her Bandra lifestyle. After COVID, there was a need for change." According to Suriya, the move to Mumbai has opened up more creative opportunities for Jyotika, allowing her to work on diverse projects with fresh perspectives.

Suriya further explained that Jyotika often faces greater challenges in her career. While he works with renowned directors, she frequently collaborates with first-time filmmakers. Since their move, Jyotika has worked on various projects like Srikanth, Shaitaan, Dabba Cartel, and Kaathal: The Core, which feature interesting writing. Suriya admitted that this relocation has also enhanced their family dynamic, emphasizing the importance of women having their independence and time for themselves.

For Suriya, Mumbai offers a refreshing change with more freedom and anonymity. He enjoys everyday activities like driving with his kids or walking in the park without constant public attention. He mentioned that his kids are thriving in their new school environment, and the family has encountered numerous good opportunities in the city. Suriya balances his time between Chennai and Mumbai, taking about 10 days off each month to disconnect completely from work and enjoy quality time with his family.
