Review/Critic Reviews

Jolly LLB 3, directed by Subhash Kapoor, is a compelling blend of courtroom drama, satire, and social commentary that brings together two beloved characters—Jagdish Tyagi (Arshad Warsi) and Jagdishwar Mishra (Akshay Kumar)—in a legal face-off that evolves into an alliance for justice. Set in Delhi’s district court, the film begins with the two Jollys clashing over clients and credibility, but soon pivots to a deeper narrative involving land acquisition and farmers’ rights.

The plot centers around Janaki (Seema Biswas), a widow fighting against a powerful real estate tycoon Haribhai Khaitan (Gajraj Rao), whose “Bikaner to Boston” project threatens to displace villagers. Initially reluctant, both lawyers are drawn into her case, revealing layers of corruption, corporate greed, and systemic injustice. The film draws inspiration from real-life land protests, notably the 2011 Bhatta-Parsaul uprising, and weaves in references to financial scams and political apathy.

Akshay Kumar delivers a charismatic performance, balancing humor and gravitas, while Arshad Warsi’s understated wit and emotional depth shine through. Their chemistry is electric, and Saurabh Shukla as Justice Tripathi once again steals the show with impeccable comic timing and a subplot involving his personal life. Supporting roles by Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, Ram Kapoor, and Shilpa Shukla add texture to the narrative.

While the film occasionally struggles to blend its serious themes with slapstick humor, it succeeds in raising important questions about development, justice, and conscience. The writing is sharp, the dialogues are punchy, and the courtroom scenes are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Jolly LLB 3 is not just a sequel—it’s a socially aware, emotionally resonant film that entertains while making you think. A must-watch for fans of the franchise and lovers of meaningful cinema.
