His resignation comes just days after meeting senior BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to discuss concerns over the party’s strategy in Tamil Nadu. 

Reasons for Resignation
Internal differences: Reports suggest Annamalai was unhappy with BJP’s seat-sharing talks with AIADMK and felt sidelined within the party. 

Vision for new politics: He stated that his goals are “much bigger now” and that Tamil Nadu needs a politics rooted in transparency and grassroots participation. 

Respectful exit: Annamalai stressed that his departure was amicable, consistent with Tamil culture of parting ways respectfully. 

Future Plans
New political movement: Annamalai announced he will launch a new party to contest the next Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. 

Focus on youth and common citizens: His new initiative will emphasize “common-man politics,” moving away from personality-driven leadership. 

Ethics in politics : He revealed plans to establish the “APJ Abdul Kalam Ethics in Politics” institution to train leaders in values-based governance.
