Sarita Vihar Flyover to Close for 60 Days In Delhi; Know The Reason Here

The Sarita Vihar flyover in New Delhi is set to undergo significant repair and expansion work, leading to the closure of its carriageways for 60 days, starting from May 1st until June 30th. This decision was made by the Public Works Department (PWD) after earlier renovation plans were postponed in 2023.

The flyover, which is used by lakhs of people daily, connects Southeast Delhi to Faridabad in Haryana. The old flyover, constructed in 2001, is in dire need of repair. The PWD will carry out the project in four phases, ensuring that at least half a lane of the carriageway remains open for traffic during the repair process. The expansion joint and repair work will be carried out during this period, addressing the wear and tear accumulated over the years.

Commuters traveling from Mathura Road to Delhi-Faridabad via the flyover will face slightly more traffic along the way. To mitigate congestion, the Delhi traffic police have issued a traffic advisory, urging commuters to plan their travel in advance and choose alternate routes. Heavy and commercial vehicles on Mathura Road, towards Sarita Vihar flyover, will also be restricted as needed to ensure smooth vehicular movement.

For those traveling from Ashram on Mathura Road towards Badarpur and Faridabad, the recommended alternative route is to follow Road No. 13A from the slip road of Sarita Vihar flyover, and then take a U-turn from Road No. 13A to reach Mathura Road. Despite the inconvenience, these repairs are essential to maintain the safety and functionality of this crucial transportation link in the national capital
