The Bengaluru Karaga festival, a vibrant and age-old tradition, is set to return in full grandeur this year after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic. The festival, largely associated with the Thigala community, draws lakhs of devotees from across the city each year. 

This time, the festivities will take place from April 15th to 25rd at the Dharmarayaswamy Temple in Thigalarapet. With a history spanning over 300 years, the Karaga festival commences on April 15 and culminates in a grand procession on April. 

The Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department has announced the dates following a meeting with temple authorities. 

The festival involves various rituals, processions, and cultural performances, making it a significant event in Bengaluru’s cultural calendar. Devotees participate in the festivities with great enthusiasm, celebrating the rich heritage and spiritual significance of the Karaga festival4.
