Bangalore & Other Districts In Karantaka Will See High Temperature In April 2024

Residents of Karnataka, particularly in districts like Bengaluru, Tumakuru, and others, are bracing for a scorching April as temperatures are forecasted to soar. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert, predicting hotter than usual conditions. This rise in temperature is attributed to a heatwave that is expected to sweep across the state, with the mercury likely to climb higher than normal climatological values.

The heat index, which combines air temperature and relative humidity, could range from 40 to 50 degrees Celsius in isolated pockets of Coastal and North Interior Karnataka. This could lead to uncomfortable and potentially hazardous conditions, especially for vulnerable populations. The IMD has advised residents to stay hydrated and avoid exposure to the sun during peak hours.

The forecast also indicates a rise in maximum temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius in districts such as Belagavi, Bidar, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, and Raichur. Bengaluru city is expected to experience maximum temperatures around 35 to 36 degrees Celsius in the coming days. While the heatwave is set to persist until April 5, there is a silver lining with the prediction of light rainfall in several districts, which may offer some respite from the heat.

Authorities are urged to take necessary measures to mitigate the impact of the heatwave. This includes ensuring access to cool drinking water and setting up additional water distribution points in affected areas. Residents are also encouraged to take precautions to stay safe during the heatwave period and to conserve water in light of the ongoing crisis. The situation serves as a reminder of the increasing challenges posed by climate change and the need for adaptive strategies to cope with extreme weather events.
