IMD Heat Alert : Karnataka, Gujarat, and Rajasthan Temperatures Will Rise Above 40 Degree

As the scorching summer sun approaches, temperatures in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Rajasthan have surged beyond the 40-degree Celsius mark. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a two-day heatwave warning for these states.

Weather agencies report that the mercury has crossed the 40°C threshold, prompting the IMD to raise the alarm. The heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the next two days.

Specifically, the following regions are likely to experience intense heat:

North Interior Karnataka: Maximum temperatures may rise by two to three degrees Celsius during this period.

Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat: These areas are also at risk of heatwave conditions.

Southwest Rajasthan: Residents here should brace for scorching temperatures.

In its daily bulletin, the IMD emphasizes that maximum temperatures are currently exceeding the 95th percentile of climatological values in certain pockets of south interior Karnataka adjacent to north Kerala. This trend is expected to continue over extended areas of interior Karnataka on 27th and 28th March.

While Belagavi district might witness isolated light rainfall, the rest of the state is likely to remain dry. Raichur District recorded an average maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius, with a significant portion of the state experiencing maximum temperatures ranging from 36 to 42 degrees Celsius.

In the face of rising temperatures, the Karnataka Health Ministry has issued a heatwave advisory, urging people to stay hydrated and take precautions against sunstroke and migraines. Meanwhile, Bengaluru city continues to grapple with its ongoing water crisis. Let’s hope for some relief soon!
