Tamil Nadu MDMK MP Ganeshamurthi Passes Away, Due To Cardia Arrest

A. Ganeshamurthi, a prominent leader and three-time Member of Parliament (MP) from the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), breathed his last on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The 77-year-old Erode MP was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore when he succumbed to a cardiac arrest at 5:05 a.m.

Ganeshamurthi’s political journey was marked by dedication and service. His tenure as an MP spanned three terms, during which he tirelessly represented the people of Erode. However, his final days were marred by personal struggles. On March 24, he was rushed to a private hospital in Erode after reportedly consuming insecticide. Later, he was transferred to a hospital in Coimbatore, where his condition remained critical.

The MDMK leader’s alleged depression stemmed from the party’s decision not to field him as a candidate from the Erode constituency. Instead, the DMK nominated KE Prakash for Erode, while Ganeshamurthi’s son, Durai Vaiko, was named the MDMK candidate for the Tiruchy seat.

As news of his passing spread, grief enveloped Tamil Nadu. The body of this seasoned politician will be taken to his residence in Periyar Nagar, Erode, where it will lie in state for public homage. Ganeshamurthi’s legacy as a dedicated representative and committed leader will be remembered by many.
