Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, renowned for portraying Mrs. Roshan Sodhi in the popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), filed a complaint against producer Asit Kumarr Modi in May 2023, alleging sexual harassment in the workplace. The recent court verdict, announced on February 15, 2024, has ruled in Jennifer’s favor. As a result, Modi has been directed to clear her outstanding dues and pay an additional ₹5 lakh as compensation. The total amount, including the withheld payment, sums up to approximately ₹25-30 lakh. Jennifer Mistry confirmed this development to E-Times.
However, despite the favorable verdict, Jennifer expressed disappointment that no punishment has been meted out to the show’s Project Head, Sohail Ramani, and executive producer, Jatin Bajaj. She emphasized that while her harassment was recognized, she still awaits proper justice.
It’s important to note that Jennifer Mistry, who played Mrs. Roshan Sodhi in TMKOC, left the show in 2023 and subsequently filed the complaint against Asit Kumarr Modi, Sohail Ramani, and Jatin Bajaj for alleged sexual harassment at the workplace. The three were booked under sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Asit Kumarr Modi responded to the FIR by denying all allegations and stating that the matter is under investigation. TMKOC, a long-running and successful television show, continues to captivate audiences even after 15 years on air.
