Gandhi Kannadi (2025) is a Tamil-language comedy-drama written and directed by Sherief Gows, produced by Jayi Kiran under the Adhimulam Creations banner. The film marks the lead debut of KPY Bala and Namita Krishnamurthy, alongside veteran actors Balaji Sakthivel and Archana in pivotal roles. It was released in theatres on 5 September 2025.

The story follows Kathir (KPY Bala), an ambitious event planner, who is approached by Gandhi (Balaji Sakthivel), a security guard, to organize a grand 60th wedding anniversary for his wife Kannamma (Archana). The couple, who eloped decades ago, still share a deep bond, and Kannamma dreams of a celebration as lavish as her employer’s. Gandhi, short on funds, decides to sell ancestral land to finance the event.

However, just as arrangements begin, the 2016 demonetization strikes, rendering the large cash payment Gandhi received nearly worthless. What follows is a mix of humor, emotional moments, and social commentary as Kathir and Gandhi navigate bureaucratic hurdles, family betrayals, and the ticking clock to fulfill Kannamma’s wish.
