Gatta Kusthi 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to the 2022 Tamil sports comedy-drama Gatta Kusthi, once again directed by Chella Ayyavu. Produced jointly by Vishnu Vishal Studioz and Vels Film International, the film sees Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi reprising their lead roles, continuing the story of a couple whose relationship is intertwined with the traditional wrestling sport of gatta kusthi.

The first film explored themes of patriarchy, gender roles, and marital dynamics through humor and action, and the sequel promises to delve deeper into the lives of the lead characters while retaining its mass entertainment appeal. Returning cast members include Karunas, Munishkanth, Kaali Venkat, and Gajaraj, with actor Karunakaran joining in a key role.

This time, the narrative is set to blend sports drama with socially relevant issues found in everyday households, presented in a lighthearted yet impactful manner. Sean Roldan takes over the music composition from Justin Prabhakaran, while KM Bhaskaran handles cinematography and Barath Vikraman serves as editor.

Filming is planned across Chennai, Ambasamudram, Pollachi, and Palakkad in a single schedule. With its mix of comedy, action, and emotional beats, Gatta Kusthi 2 aims to build on the charm of its predecessor while offering fresh conflicts and heartfelt moments for audiences.
